TEGNA – Transforming a Static HR Portal into a Dynamic Platform

The Brief:
TEGNA is a best-in-class operator with 63 television stations and two radio stations in 51 markets from coast to coast. Each month, TEGNA reaches 75 million adults across its digital platforms.

TEGNA set out on this project with a vision, a deadline, and two main objectives. First, TEGNA wanted to provide its 7,000 employees with an engaging self-service experience. Second, TEGNA wanted to transition from its custom-developed site in SharePoint. TEGNA partnered with Stridepath to deliver both objectives, leveraging HR Service Delivery Path (prescriptive HR services) to accelerate the project and maximize its value.

What We Did:
To meet TEGNA’s objectives, Stridepath implemented ServiceNow® HR Case & Knowledge and HR Portal. We partnered with their internal Comms Team to transform their static HR portal into a dynamic platform, adding versatility with various enhancements including a custom widget that pulls social media content into the portal with SocialChorus.

In addition to the portal, we delivered a robust HR Pro deployment with standardized processes (with approval chains), unique document-generation services, 23 prescriptive services, and an additional 15 custom services.

Results:
TEGNA employees are benefitting from streamlined processes and a robust, user-friendly HR portal. Employees are more engaged and connected; embedding SocialChorus into the HR Portal has delivered a noticeable increase in usage. As another part of this project, we delivered a custom integration with UltiPro for enhanced functionality and efficiency. This implementation helped TEGNA accomplish their goal to provide a modern, intuitive employee experience.

Highlights:
• 7,000 employees
• 30 week implementation
• Custom integration with UltiPro
• Developed a widget to pull social media content into the portal
